Commodore's Report January 2012

Paul Kendrick

I hope everyone has a Happy New Year. HBYC is off to a great start as we bring in 2012. There are many activities already being planned for you to enjoy during our short winter and longer warm months ahead. I’m sure you’ll find several events that will interest you.

Thanks to all the new and returning Board members and Officers for their support of the HBYC. They all seem to be eager to get rolling with their new plans for the coming year. Your feedback and suggestions are important to help guide the club in the selection of future improvements, activities and needs. This is YOUR club to participate in and enjoy as many of you do. With a broader range of activities being planned, we hope more members will come out and enjoy our beautiful part of the Gulf.

We have an exciting guest speaker planned for the February meeting and I encourage you to spread the word. Claiborne S. Young of “The Salty Southeast Cruisers’ Net” at the web site, http://cruisersnet.net will be speaking to us about cruising issues relevant to the Southeast. His “Cruisers helping Cruisers” work has helped countless cruisers to have safer and enjoyable cruising experiences. So, if you are a salty cruiser or just building up information for that dream cruise, come learn something with us.

We did have three visitors and potential new members at the January meeting, which was fantastic! Please extend a welcome and some hospitality if you see new faces around the club. I hope to see more new faces, past members and current members at the coming meetings. Along those lines, Please! Pay your membership dues before Feb 15 th so we can put the 2012 “Membership Directory” together on time.

I want to thank the Social Committee team and all those who brought the great food to the January feast. So much for that New Year’s resolution…

HBYC is what we make of it and currently it’s a fun place to be. Don't miss out. Get involved if you are not, and enjoy all the club has to offer. Contact a club officer; check our web site’s (myhbyc.com) calendar, our Face book page, or the “Marker 2” club newsletter for upcoming events. There are many activities for all interests – spread the word.

Thanks, and Be Safe!

Paul
