JUNE 2008
Well here we are starting the hot months and the only thing that seems to grow is the weeds. Ever wonder why those pesky “no-seeums” just don’t burst into flames with the heat? They would be like little sparklers on the 4th of July! How cool would that be??
OK, now down to business. June is another event packed month starting with the Anniversary/Birthday Dinner at Gulf Harbors Club House on the 7th.
The Commodores Poker Picnic is on the 14th starting at 2pm. Please give me a call if you are going but have not signed up yet. 727 862 7799
There is a Fun Race on the 21st and a Breakfast on the Beach on the 29th.
Check out the details of these events on the Web or in Marker 2. If you need more info just call me BEFORE 9pm.
May was a great month for racing and sailing. We enjoyed several overnighters and visited Marker 1 marina in Duneden. It’s under major construction but transients are welcome at $1.50 a foot. It’s just off the ICW at Duneden Causeway Bridge . Very friendly staff with showers, fuel and ice.
The holiday weekend saw quite a bit of boat traffic but this just provides lot’s of entertainment for Chris and I. Can’t believe how many “boaters” have very little clue about what they are doing. Please encourage all new boater “wan-ta-bees” to attend a Coast Guard boating class. The price is reasonable and it makes for better and safer boating for all of us.
A thank you to all the members who are helping out the different committees at our functions. From setting up chairs at the meeting, being a committee boat for a race or cooking at the breakfast on the beach. What a pleasure to see everyone getting involved and making our club a success.
Enough for now, my wife says I have to wash the windows.
